Butterworld is a traveling exhibition made up of over 150 dairy artifacts that span the 17^th through 20^th centuries. The collection includes historical books, vintage advertisements, antique bottles, butter churners and other equipment. Chief curator, Sandeep Agarwal, urges visitors to keep an eye out for the Osborne’s Improved Thermometer Churn, which was marketed as a solution to the common mid-19^th century superstition that cream couldn’t be churned into butter so long as it was haunted by a “cream witch.”

The exhibit includes a few items that will be of special interest to raw milk drinkers, such as the cream-separating bottle, whose design allows cream to be poured into coffee without permitting any skim milk to come with it. There is also a calendar from 1949 picturing Howard Jones, a famous USC football coach, who was quoted as saying, “To develop rugged bodies and staying power, children need a quart of fresh milk daily.”
